06/30/02 - 12:54 PM - Well it is already the last of the month can't believe it so I guess that means that I'll put the archive page up for June in a couple days. I may also add a little concepts page with some of our sketches and concepts they are just simple little drawings. But anyway what I"m mainly posting about is I changed my photo page cause the javascript slide show wasn't really workin for me, well it worked I just didn't like it. So anyway I have it set up with each of the titles of the photos below and when you put your mouse over wach the related image will apear in the window.

06/29/02 - 2:30 AM - I also textured the city ruins from far away as the robots aproach. This is a basic view as they are walking in I may add some grasses and some dust and stuff but this gives a general idea of the size of the ruins etc. In fact I will probably add more buildings and some otehr stuff to but I haven't posted a screen shot in a week now so here is just a little one. City Ruins from afar

06/29/02 - 2:19 AM - I have decided on the basic outline for "The Civil War: California's Lost History". (which by the way is added to the project page) The documentary will cover the following topics and possibly some more but this is the basic outline 1) rising tensions from around 1850 on in the east US 2) economic, political and social developments in California around the same time period 3) the outbreak of war in the east 4) california's reaction 5) california's steps to aid their allie and which side they allie with. 6) what exactly California contributed (in relation to troops and supplies 7) what those troops did and which battles they fought in and 8) what state our civil war heritage is in today what steps are being taken to preserve it. I may also decide to do a portion on the forts built and maintained during that time period. Well that's all for now on the civil war thing.

06/26/02 - 1:48 PM - Hello again, time for another update. Well lately I've been working on those scenes in the desert and am finishing up on the final one in the next couple days. I will post a screen shot of the city from far away once I get some good textures on it and figure out the lighting. I think I will go ahead and say my next project that I am about to unertake and am currently researching. I will be writing a documentary about California during the United States Civil War. I think this is an interesting topic that most people don't have much information about. So as I expected finding much information is dificult, but that's what makes it fun right? Well I'm not sure what I'll be posting about that, I might add it to the projects section once I have something cocnrete. The other thing we were preparing to work on was a CG interpretation of a Dr. Seuss poem however the major dificulty with that is the legal entity that controls the copyrights for those books are real sticklers and won't even allow webpages to use his images without express written consent. So we may just need to use a poem of an author LIKE Dr Seuss. But anyway, I'm also happy to anounce we are shooting for a December release for Relics. We are also hoping to get a trailer up within the next couple weeks, it has just been hard to pull it all together with all the changes that have been made to the script. If I add the civil war project to the projects page I'll post it here first. And unfortunately I have still not been able to find a job which totaly sucks but atleast I'm gettin lots of work on the movie done. Well I think that's all for now.

06/19/02 - 11:05 PM - I made a quick little screen shot of a scene we just decided to add to the film. I think it is kinda fun and no I'm not gunna tell you what the scene is about but I really like this picture so =P. The sensitive robot.

06/18/02 - 3:35 PM - Well I had my interview and it went OK but I don't think I'll get the job. Haven't really had anything to post that would be screen shot worthy. I'm mostly trying to fine tune all the space shots and the freeway landing stuff and get it all ready to edit for the trailer, which I was hoping to have had months ago but I've run into some obstacles as you can see. I have started working on the robot's motion paths for walking, man it takes forever for the intial setup, but hopefully it will work out. I should have his walk perfected by later tonight so maybe I'll post a short clip just so you can see his standard walk =). Well back to work.

06/13/02 - 5:47 PM - OK here's a quick screen shot of the robot after he has landing looking out of a hole in the freeway. He is looking towards one of the other robots that is on its decent. under overpass look up

06/13/02 - 2:04 AM -I've been putting in alot of work on the movie recently even though I haven't been posting very much. The reason for this is two things. First off some of the scenes I'm pretty proud of and I don't want to spoil it. And second off some of them are alot of work for only about a 7 second clip. But most of the work I have been completing is on the freeway crash scene. It has become much more elaborate then I first intended. Originally it was going to be two maybe three clips about 20 secs total. It has since evolved into about 5 or 6 clips totaling closer to 40-50 secs. While this doesn't sound like much it is alot considering 100 frames or about 3 secs of video takes me between 6 and 7 hours to render. So I've been busy. Also still lookin for a job no Suncoast aparently but possibly an IT job. Anyway that's not the point. I'll have to do a little thinking then I'll post some video or maybe I'll just post screen shots cause while they aren't very impressive they do give a general feeling of the scene without giving too much away.

06/12/02 - 2:12 AM - I re-did one of the older shots from space (I thought I was done but I guess not) this shot gives a little more footage to the probe encircling the earth and also gives more of a sense that the ship is pulling into an orbit, previously looked like it was flying away from the planet, not towards it, so that's all fixed and here is a little clip of it. new Ship flyby

06/06/02 - 6:20 PM - Here's a quick little shot from just above the shoulder of the robot looking down at the freeway. Gives a good sense of the material he is made of. Over shoulder above freeway.

06/06/02 - 5:23 PM - Well I bit the bullet and went out and looked for jobs today. I think my best chance is Suncoast video. I can't believe I'm actually going to work in the mall how teribly frightening. Well I'm headin in tomorow for my little interview thingy. So while it isn't exactly ideal it is just a summer job and hopefully I'll make enough for my laptop. But even if I don't make enough for that I should be able to get some lovely movies for cheap. And if I time it right I'll be able to get a hold of the Lord of the Rings DVD =). Well I'm assuming too much, anyway, still workin on the freeway crash scene. I'm tryin to make atleast somewhat "stunning" I'm almost happy with it, but not quite. Kinda funny the way it stands it'll come out to about 5-10 secs of video and I've spent 2 months on it already. Yikes. Wow this is a pretty long post. No reason to stop typing now I suppose. So a couple more weeks of this freeway scene then hopefully I can move on to some lobby footage. I'm still waitin for my writer/director to get over here so we can edit the trailer (hint hint Dan). And as soon as that is all done all 4 of you can see it. Well I think I'll go get back to work now.

06/04/02 - 12:52 AM - All of the may posts have been moved to the archives and ugh I have jury duty in 8 hours, I should go to bed.

06/02/02 - 12:59 AM - Well welcome to June, all the May posts will be moved to the archive page soon. But anyway I'm adding the robot to the freeway scene should be ready to go for filming on that soon. But in the meantime just to let you guys know the kind of scale we are dealing with here I just put him in there underneath the whole structure. So here is a little screenshot for ya.Robot under Overpass
